Morbid Jealousy

Morbid Jealousy, Delusional Jealousy or Othello Syndrome “This disorder occurs when a person typically makes repeated accusations that their spouse or sexual partner is being unfaithful, based on insignificant, minimal, or no evidence, often citing seemingly normal or everyday events or material to back up their claims.” - Wikipedia

In other word this disorder is about having suspicion over the speech and the behavior of spouse or partner without proper reason. Morbid Jealousy is not difficult to treat. I’d say a dozen session would be enough. Morbid Jealousy hurts both the suspecting and the suspected. Since it is only suspicion there are no hard evidences. Imagination is accompanied and doubts are followed one after another and in the end normal daily life starts to be ruined. This Morbid Jealousy, if not treated, will evolve as marital crisis between couple overtime.

Unlike affair problems, Morbid Jealousy starts from the doubt of Spousal Affair and therefore, it is easily treated. However, when this occurs, it can never be solved through discussion and will develop into couple problem, character problem, sex problem and family problem. This is why this problem has to be dealt as Pseudo-affair problem.

It is necessary that the husband and wife recognize the clear cause of this disease. This will treat most part of the problem. However, in reality there are not many counselors or psychiatrist that has the proper knowledge or method and information on the internet that gives a clear definition of this disorder.

Each case is very different however the root cause seems to be common in these cases. Therefore, it should be noted that this disorder comes from the error of individual thoughts, memory and feelings. Understanding on how these errors are mixed for each case will provide a right therapy.
